Conan Elphicke is a would-be children's author whose unpublished middle-grade manuscript Kit Larceny and Airship of Destiny (then Angelica's Airship) was one of five that were shortlisted for the 2020 Ampersand Prize from a field of 300 entries. He is currently working on two other projects.
Conan was also the co-host of The History Blokes, which looks at significant moments in Australian history in a light-hearted way and is suitable for listeners of all ages.
Conan works as a professional editor and writer. He was previously a freelance journalist and travel writer, his work appearing in every major newspaper in Australia and several in Britain and Canada.
He has also appeared as a contestant on the ABC TV show Hard Quiz. Twice! He also dabbles in stand-up comedy.
His hobbies include levitating (see image).
